About the register

Champion Golfers CA is an independent editorial index of hotels. It exists because hotel listings usually answer the wrong question: they tell you a price and a score, and almost nothing about what the building is, how it is arranged, or why anyone bothered to make it that way. This register tries to answer that instead.

How the register is drawn

Every entry is written as prose, not as a specification sheet. The four chapters — art hotels, capsule hotels, casino hotels and ice hotels — were chosen because each one is defined by a decision about the building itself rather than by a location or a price band. An art hotel commissions work into its fabric. A capsule hotel shrinks the private room and enlarges the shared floor. A casino hotel carries a gaming floor inside a larger hospitality complex. An ice hotel is demolished by weather every spring and rebuilt from scratch.

What we do not do

We do not take bookings, hold inventory, or pass enquiries to any property. We do not publish star ratings, invented guest reviews, or scores of any kind, and we do not rank one hotel above another. The register is geo-neutral: it is not written for one country's readers, and the hotels in it are spread across several.

How entries are written

Descriptions are drawn from published material about each property and from its own account of itself, and they are kept to facts that are stable and true to character — what a building was before, how its plan works, what the surrounding district is like. Anything that changes week to week, such as opening hours, rates or availability, is deliberately left out, because a register that pretends to be current when it is not is worse than one that admits its limits.

Corrections

If a property described here has changed, closed, or was described inaccurately, we would rather know. The contact sheet explains how to reach us, and corrections are made to the entry itself rather than added as a footnote.
