B.01

citizenM Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport

Paris, France

This citizenM stands directly within the airport estate, and its layout answers the specific problem of sleeping between flights. Rooms are a fixed compact footprint built around a wall-to-wall bed, with glazing on one side and a tablet controlling light, blinds and temperature. Check-in happens at self-service terminals, which keeps the ground floor free for a large open living room that stays staffed and open around the clock. The result is a small berth attached to a generous shared floor — the capsule logic applied at hotel scale.

The Millennials Nihonbashi

Tokyo, Japan

The Millennials Nihonbashi refines the Japanese capsule format into something closer to a small private cabin. Each unit contains a powered bed platform that adjusts from flat sleeping position to an angled seat, plus a projector aimed at the ceiling in place of a wall-mounted screen. Bathrooms, laundry and lockers sit on shared floors, and a long communal work lounge takes up much of the public space. Nihonbashi itself is an older commercial quarter, which gives the hotel a quieter street context than the entertainment districts.

Wink Hostel Sinchon

Seoul, South Korea

Wink Hostel Sinchon puts its berths inside a timber-framed structure rather than moulded plastic shells, so the sleeping units read as joinery — stacked, panelled, each with its own curtain, shelf and reading light. The Sinchon district around it is dense with universities, which sets the tone of the shared kitchen and lounge on the lower floor. Storage is handled with full-height lockers instead of under-bed drawers, which keeps the aisles clear. It is a straightforward, well-organised version of the format with no unnecessary theatre.
